Garlic and Five Spice New York Strip Steak

Serves 4

A simple marinade of garlic and five spice for these New York Strip Steaks adds a wonderful balance of Asian flavors. Marinate steaks overnight then grill for ultimate deliciousness.

Ingredients:

4 (10-ounce) Certified Angus Beef ® New York Strip steaks

1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar

3-4 cloves garlic, minced (1 tablespoon)

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder

1 teaspoon freshly ground Kampot Whole Black Peppercorns (similarly substitute freshly ground black pepper)

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions:

To begin with, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, five-spice powder, black pepper and red pepper flakes. Once you have made the marinade, place New York Strip Steaks in a plastic zipper locking bag, add marinade and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight for a deeper marinade flavor.

Once steaks have marinated, preheat the grill to medium high (450°F). Remove steaks from marinade and pat dry, then grill to desired doneness; about 3-4 minutes per side for medium rare (around 125-130°F internal temperature). Remove steaks from grill and rest for 5 minutes before serving.
